The Farmhouse: A Perfect Retreat in the French Alps
The Farmhouse is a one-of-a-kind accommodation perfect for those who are looking for something above and beyond the conventional hotels that are found in the quaint city of Morzine in France. Known among the locals as Le Mas de la Coutettaz, the Farmhouse provides luxurious and cozy accommodations where guests will feel right at home.
Although the hotel is just barely two decades old, the building itself goes a bit further. The building that houses the Farmhouse was built back in the year 1771, and belonged to the Baud family, one of the prominent families living in the city of Morzine during that time. Today, this privately owned guesthouse provides a haven for tourists visiting the majestic French Alps, providing most of the amenities that you would commonly find in most modern hotel combined with a warm and cozy atmosphere and unpretentious service will make your stay here an experience that you will never forget.
The Farmhouse offers nine bedrooms, which are distributed to different cottages all around the vast estate. That being said, it is important to make sure that reservations are made well ahead in advance as these rooms get booked out really fast. Each room has been newly renovated, and has been decorated to have its own unique personality and feel.
A favorite choice is the Old Kitchen room, which is located in the Main House. The room gets its name from the fact that when it was constructed back in 1901, the original owners of the house used this area as the kitchen where they would cook traditional meals with the use of an open fire. Today, the room is spacious enough to accommodate two double beds and a sleeper sofa, perfect for families traveling to the city of Morzine on vacation. The Victorian style of decoration used throughout the bedroom and down to the private bathroom is extremely pleasing to the eye, making it one of the Farmhouse’s most comfortable rooms.
Despite its simplicity and homey appearance, guests at the Farmhouse are provided with a host of different amenities with their own unique twist to make sure that they get the most out of their stay.
The Farmhouse has its own on-site restaurant where guests can sample fine French cuisine and wine is a cozy setting. Instead of seating guests in separate tables, the restaurant has one large banquet table where guests can socialize with each other and enjoy each other’s company. Dinner starts at 8pm, but it is encouraged to come earlier in order to enjoy the delicious canapés served at the bar with your favorite drink before dinner.
During the winter months, the Farmhouse can also help you make the arrangements for the booking of your ski passes so that you have nothing to worry about when you arrive. Traveling with young children? The Farmhouse is close to a wonderful crèche called the L’Outa where you can leave your children in the professional hands of day care facilitators to make sure that your children are safe and sound. In addition to this, the Farmhouse can also assist you to make arrangements for a nanny to come to stay with your children within the premises of the guesthouse itself.
Getting to the Farmhouse
Upon arriving at the Geneva Airport, there are two ways to get to the Farmhouse. The most convenient way is to head over by train. Advise the Farmhouse in advance of your arrival at either the Cluses or Thonon station for someone to pick you up and drive you to the guesthouse.
The other option is to head out by car. Directions to get to the guesthouse are provided in the Farmhouse’s website. One important tip: If you do choose to get to the guesthouse by car, make sure that you look for the sign that says “Le Mas de la Coutettaz”, which is the hotel’s original French name.
